● pure and simple も同じ意味になります。

● バイクや車がエンジンをふかすような「ぶるるる～ん」という音・イメージ
● 英語のドラマで字幕をonにした時に「エンジン音が鳴っている」と状況を説明する英文によく使われます。
● 少し幅を広げて考えてー強度、活動、または量が急速に増加し始めることも表せます。

rev up を使った例文

  1. Did you hear the sound of motorcycle engines revving up outside our apartment building last night?
  2. Production revved up after Tom became the new factory manager.

英語イディオム【play for a sucker】

● play (one) for a sucker
● play (ones) for suckers と複数形にもなります
● いいようにだます、カモにする （誰かを馬鹿にしたりナイーブだとみなし、そこにつけ込むことを表す）
● ニュースや公の場のスピーチでも使われるので堂々と使ってよい表現ですが、（自分も含め）誰かを批判しているはずなので、注意しましょう。ご自身が使えるようにならなくても良いですが、リスニングとリーディングでは理解できるようになって欲しいですね。
